Best Buy: American Shoppers Welcome Black Friday at Best Buy
DANBURY - Sipping Starbucks drinks in a Danbury Fair mall's bustling center court, Chris Russo, of Newtown, was relishing some downtime on Black Friday with her teenage daughters and her mother, who came from Clearwater, Fla., for Thanksgiving and the family's annual holiday shopping foray.
At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Russo's family headed to Target in Bethel, where they waited until midnight for the doors to open. Her 17-year-old son, Rob, was intent on getting a good buy on a big-screen television, and managed an "excellent buy." The others also did their fair share of shopping before returning home for three hours' rest and then heading to the mall.
"My mom comes from Florida especially for this," Russo, 46, said with a chuckle as her mother Ann Miller, 69, nodded hearty agreement.
"I just like to be with the family," Miller said just before ending her coffee break to wander around some shops with granddaughter, Lauren, 15. Younger sister, Marisa, 13, was hunting for her own deals with Russo.
"Everyone's just so nice,'' Miller said of the other eager shoppers they mingled with as they waited in line for stores to open.
