PAGASA: Tropical Storm Mina Update as of August 24, 4 p.m.

PAGASA Severe Weather Bulletin Number 6 pertaining to Tropical Storm MINA (NANMADOL) issued at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, 24 August 2011:









At 11:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "MINA" (NANMADOL) has maintained its strength and remained almost stationary.



Tropical Depression "Mina" is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 390 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (16.2�N, 127.3�E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.



Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that on Thursday morning, TS Mina is estimated at 490 km East of Casiguran, Aurora. On Friday morning, it will be at 550 km East of Aparri, Cagayan

and 540 km East of Basco, Batanes on Saturday.



TS "Mina" is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas particularly over the western section.



Estimated rainfall amount is from 15-25 mm per hour within the 400 km diameter of the tropical storm.
