Brian Viloria to Fight Against Mexican Giovanni Segura

World Boxing Organization (WBO) Flyweight champ Brian Viloria is being challenged by Mexican hard-hitter Giovanni Segura.

Segura is the WBO super champion in the light-flyweight class and his being that makes him a rightful challenger to Viloria, according to the WBO.

Reports from the US say that Zanfer Promotions and Team Viloria have agreed verbally to make Segura as the next foe of the Hawaii-born Filipino.

Zanfer holds promotional rights over Segura and Julio Cesar Miranda, who lost the WBO fly diadem to Viloria in Honolulu over the weekend.

Segura has a 28-1 win-loss card with 24 knockouts and is coming off nine straight wins, all by knockout.

After dropping a decision to Cesar Canchilla, Segura and Canchilla meti n a rematch and Segura avenged his defeat by knockout.

Two of the 29-year-old Seguras KO victims include Filipinos Juanito Rubillar and Sonny Boy Jaro.

Segura, nicknamed The Aztec Warrior, is confident Viloria will become the third as he knows Viloria very well, having sparred with the 30-year-old Sydney Olympian in Los Angeles many years ago.

Viloria reigned as WBC light-fly champion from Sept. 2005 until August 2006, making only one successful defense, a close decision over Jose Antonio Aguirre.

Hopefully, Ill have more fights, more title defenses here (in Hawaii), Viloria told David Reardon of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
