100 Tweet Apology Settles BluInc Media Defamation Case Against Fahmi Fadzil

Magazine publisher BluInc Media agrees to settle defamation case against Malaysian social activist Fahmi Fadzil should the latter apologizes 100 times over three days on Twitter where he has more than 4,200 followers.

"I've DEFAMED Blu Inc Media and Female Magazine. My tweets on their (human resource) policies are untrue. I retract those words and hereby apologize," Fahmi tweeted in a series of identical postings that started Thursday and were repeated about every 30 minutes.

It will be recalled that in January, Fahmi Fadzil claimed on Twitter that his pregnant friend had been poorly treated by her employers at a magazine run by BluInc Media which he retracted an hours later. Fahmi even wrote his apology to the publisher.

But BluInc Media lawyers still sent him a letter demanding unspecified financial damages for defamation and another apology in major newspapers.

BluInc publishes more than 20 lifestyle and health magazines in Malaysia.
