SM Cinemas issued a short statement behind the reason for not showing of Star Cinema's "And I Love You So" from any of their cinemas. (Click HERE to read related story.)
Here is the statement of SM Cinema Management through its Senior Vice President, Mr. Edgar Tejerero:
"It is unfortunate that we are unable to show And I Love You So in our cinemas today. We remain committed to the continued growth of the Philippine Film Industry by providing our customers with wholesome family entertainment in our movie theaters."
"And I Love You So" opened yesterday, August 12, in about 100 theaters nationwide, but not in SM Cinemas.
According to source, "And I Love You So" reportedly grossed Php3.4 million on its first day nationwide.
Meanwhile, Bea's last movie with John Lloyd Cruz, One More Chance (2007), grossed Php5 million on its first day in SM Cinemas alone. But this is probably because Bea was paired with John Lloyd.
According to a report by YES! Magazine, SM Cinemas sell 45% of all movie tickets sold in the country.
