GMA's ‘Think Before You Click’ Campaign and Julie Anne San Jose Win 2012 Tatt Awards
GMA News’ “Think Before You Click” campaign brought home the Safe Surfer Award in the recently-concluded 2012 Globe Tatt Awards at the NBC tent in Taguig City.
In a quest to make cyberspace a safer place for netizens, GMA News launched the “Think Before You Click” campaign in 2011. Through the campaign, viewers were encouraged to become more responsible when participating in social media—reminding them of how important it is to always think and consider the consequences of their actions before they hit that post, tweet or enter button.
GMA News is the first mainstream media organization in the Philippines to take a stand against cyber harassment and bullying.
During the event, GMA Vice President for Multi-Media Journalism and GMA News Online Editor-in-Chief Howie Severino once again reminded viewers of the great influence of the Internet and its possible implications. “If we are aware that we have the power to build, create, or destroy and ruin people’s reputation and even lives, then we’re going to be much more responsible on how we use it (Internet),” Severino explains.
Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose also received a Special Award for being the People’s Choice for Trending Personality.
Now on its second year, the Globe Tatt Awards aims to honor groups and individuals with significant contributions in social media.
