Ronnie Brown Signs Deal with Philadelphia Eagles

Ronnie Brown, former Dolphins running back, signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday.

Brown's main goal is to fulfill the team's need for a veteran ball carrier and back up the team's halfback LeSean McCoy.

A tough runner with smooth hands out of the backfield and excellent in blitz pick-up, Brown is tailor made for coach Andy Reid's offense and can be another impact weapon if he stays healthy.

He averaged 4.3 yards per carry in his six-year Miami career and caught 184 passes for 1,491 yards. Injuries earlier in his career forced him into a co-starring role for the past three seasons with Ricky Williams.

Brown, picked No. 2 overall by the Dolphins in 2005, trails only Larry Czonka and Williams in Miami franchise history for rushing yards with 4,815 yards.

In 2008, Brown spearheaded the Dolphins' wildcat reprisal and rushed for 916 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 33 passes for 254 yards to make the Pro Bowl.

He became the fifth player with Pro Bowl experience to join the Eagles since the league year started last week as Reid makes his strongest offseason push yet to assemble a Super Bowl champion.
